Art for Low-Income Senior Citizens
Therapy Support for Cognitively Impaired Seniors and Students
a Social Enterprise of
Foundation for Advancing the Arts in Education, Inc. (FAAE)
The primary purpose of this social enterprise is to facilitate art-related activities for low-income senior citizens in east Alabama and west Georgia while supporting other seniors and area students, especially those struggling with cognitive disorders.
To accomplish this purpose, I am working with seniors at several of the senior activity centers in the region to complete the following activities:
1. Use watercolor and acrylic paint to colorize black and white copies of photos and clipart provided by the instructor.
2. Convert some of the senior artwork into therapy jigsaw puzzles and games.
3. Transfer black and white images, some provided by the seniors themselves, to canvas tiles.
4. Deliver puzzles and games and canvas tiles to seniors with dementia or other cognitive disorders in nursing homes and assisted living facilities and to cognitively impaired students in area pre-K programs, kindergarten and elementary schools.
